Greensboro, N.C., June 13, 2017 — The National Folk Festival announced today that Our State Magazine will sponsor the North Carolina Arts Marketplace at the 2017 National Folk Festival.
The N.C. Arts Marketplace at the National Folk Festival will feature a wide range of handmade creations of the finest artists and craftspeople from the North Carolina region. It will include both traditional crafts and more contemporary artistic expressions established in the region’s experience. Pottery, custom furniture, photography, jewelry, textile arts, woodworks, paintings, sculptures, and much more will be showcased and be available for purchase.
“The long-running National Folk Festival is a prestigious celebration of arts, culture, and heritage. By selecting Greensboro, North Carolina, as the host city for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 National Folk Festival, the National Council for the Traditional Arts has recognized the state of North Carolina for its rich culture. This festival has allowed North Carolina to showcase all that our state has to offer and, even after the festival moves on, will keep North Carolina on the cultural map,” said Bernie Mann, president and publisher of Our State Magazine.
“As a major supporter of the National Folk Festival’s three-year residency from the very start, we are extremely grateful to Our State Magazine for helping the Festival reach so many North Carolina enthusiasts, both across the state and country,” said Tom Philion, President and CEO of ArtsGreensboro. “Our State’s sponsorship of the N.C. Arts Marketplace will help us celebrate the remarkable work of North Carolina artists – all part of the history, culture, and beauty of our state.”
Since 1933, Our State has been the trusted resource for all things North Carolina. From recipes to new places to visit, Our State has a variety of tremendous information. “We are lucky to live in and represent a state with so many phenomenal artisans. Our State is proud to be a sponsor of the North Carolina Arts Marketplace at this year’s National Folk Festival,” Mann said.
The N.C. Arts Marketplace will be open throughout the festival weekend. Participating artists and craftspeople will be announced later this summer.
