The 77th National Folk Festival
September 8-10, 2017
Downtown Greensboro, North Carolina
Celebrating America’s Cultural Roots
The National Folk Festival features performances and demonstrations by over 300 of the nation’s finest musicians, dancers, and craftspeople. It will feature more than 40 performing groups on seven stages including a dance pavilion dedicated to non-stop participatory dancing, a Family Stage with performances appealing to both the young and the young-at-heart, and the North Carolina Traditions Stage. In addition to the performance stages, there are several themed Festival areas: the North Carolina Folklife Area, curated by the North Carolina Arts Council, the Family Activities Area, the North Carolina Arts Marketplace, and the Festival Food Courts.
The site for the National Folk Festival, a large, FREE outdoor event, is in downtown Greensboro and partially within Greensboro’s vibrant Elm Street district. A mix of open air and tented sites will provide a variety of performance venues ranging from intimate stages to amphitheater size.
While some of the Festival’s stages will have folding seats available on a first-come, first-served basis, to guarantee that you have a seat at every location, you may bring your own portable chair.
